This is what we were suggested by a fellow customer of ours who does this kind of work and already has a render farm. We are then looking at running a piece of software called Backburner that I believe comes with Cinema4D / AutoDesk Software free now.

1x MS Server 2016 Standard (Per 16-Core CPU).So we looked at the following server to give them, which fingers crossed should benefit them better than a week long to render they currently have. We spoke to them and they said they would rather have a new server dedicated to this render farm instead of having X amount of PC Nodes. They gave us some really good information actually and have helped us no end, however I'd like to ask here and explain my plan before I go any futher - maybe someone here can shead some light on this. I have also spoken to another customer of ours, who does exactly the same thing and asked them how they have their render farm setup. The render settings we use are 1920x1080Īfter speaking to them about this, and doing no end of research (even outside of work late at night I'm researching this) on render farms that people have already setup, I did make quite extensive notes before going into this. What are your current render settings? We render the flythroughs out as individual jgpes, which we then stich together. How big are your files before/after rendering? Between 600MB/6GB What rendering software are you using? Maxon C4D R17Īre your renders mainly CPU or GPU intensive? CPU The information I got from them is the following, I tried to get as much information as possible to understand how I was going to manage this project.

They've gave me some information on the kind of work that they currently do - I must point out that they are looking at a render farm as they current have a laptop dedicated to rendering and it takes a week to render a project, hence their interest in this. They normally render things like models of shops and buildings with the occasional short animation. I work for an IT Managed Service Provider and I've been tasked with setting up a render farm for one of our customers.
